The new Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide have been announced by the Milwaukee brand. Details are incomplete, but we have our first look.
Harley-Davidson has announced the two newest additions to its Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) collection, with the new Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide motorcycles.
The headline of the new CVO models is undoubtedly the Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 motor, ‘VVT’ standing for ‘variable valve timing’, of course. This new engine features in both the CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide, as does new suspension and a new infotainment system.
Both motorcycles also have updated visuals. This means two new paint options, but also bodywork updates compared to the standard Street Glide and Road Glide models. In the case of the CVO Street Glide (above), this means a more pronounced undercut beneath the headlight and indicators integrated into the batwing fairing, as well as a squared-off “omega-shaped,” as Harley-Davidson puts it in a press release, headlight.
For the Road Glide (below), the updated aesthetics include a more aggressive design to the front of the bike, which also integrates to the fuel tank, side covers and saddlebags. Additionally, the headlight has a ‘modular’ appearance, which Harley-Davidson says is a reference to previous Road Glide models, and, somewhat like the CVO Street Glide, the CVO Road Glide features indicators integrated into the front fairing, and particularly into the main headlight cluster.
Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson, said: “With the introduction of the all-new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide, we’ve completely reimagined two of Harley-Davidson’s most iconic motorcycles and redefined the boundaries of CVO in the process.
“By rethinking these two models from the ground up, we are ushering in a new era of innovation, design, engineering, and technology, while expanding the definition of Harley-Davidson CVO and taking the Grand American Touring experience to another level.
“The new CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide break the mould and reset the bar for the pinnacle Harley-Davidson riding experience.”
Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director, said: “These all-new and unquestionably Harley-Davidson designs bring a cohesive and dynamic flow from the front fenders to the saddlebags.
“Achieving a greater degree of visual change than any generation prior, the design of these CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models are revolutionary takes on the historical art of evolution. Like all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, these new models are meant to instil a sense of timeless desire.”
Harley has not yet revealed the full details of either motorcycle, so we do not know performance statistics from the new engine yet, for example. More information will be released on 3 May, before the full reveal on 7 June.
